about

as people with legacies of resistance, we know grief — we know it in our bones, in our lands, and in our lineages. as we struggle with and against our past and current realities, there is a clear and present need to create space for our communities to grieve together. we believe in investing in our rituals for grief and dignifying our sorrow. giving time and attention to our rituals of life and death allows us to live more harmonious and integrated lives. it allows us space and time for reconciliation and healing so that we can continue to show up for ourselves and all of our relations. we believe that grief work is vital, especially in moments like these. we invite you into a space that is created to identify, name, and express collective and individual grief through community-building, art-making, somatic processing, and herbal allyship. the grief garden is a portal for people of the African diaspora to unburden our current and historical sorrows.

the shape
