  • imagine stepping into a sacred space where Black women and femmes and gender non-conforming folks are invited to just be—to lean into rest, restore their well-being and connect with the ancestral teachings that have guided us for generations. that's what the dreaming into being sessions, hosted in collaboration with the Root Social Justice Center, are all about. these gatherings give us the chance to pause, breathe, and reflect on the teachings of our elders and ancestors, rooted in Black womanist wisdom

during our time together, we’re not just reflecting; we’re visioning a future that feels free, safe, and truly ours. we will come together to brainstorm how these teachings can shape the liberated world we want to live in. it’s also a time for SUSU and The Root to listen to the voices of our community—to hear about what’s working, what isn’t and what we really want from spaces and programs like these

in each session, we’ll be practicing deep restoration too. from restorative yoga to sound healing, sipping on teas, crafting medicine, and even spending time by the river during some of our in person gatherings, these sessions are about tending to our souls in every way

it’s a space for us, by us, to rest, reconnect, and rise

  • our first gathering will be virtual and will focus on creating a space of rest, reflection and visioning

    • welcome & orientation

    • participant introductions: a chance to connect and share intentions

    • somatic grounding & breathwork: centering ourselves through breath and body awareness

    • gentle seated yoga practice: a restorative, grounding movement practice

    • reading & reflection: reading from works by Audre Lorde followed by a participatory research activity

    • group reflection & discussion: sharing insights and reflections in small group settings

    • closing & integration

participants will also receive a mini workbook to support their healing practice, along with a participatory action research questionnaire designed to help SUSU commUNITY Farm determine the needs and desires of Black women and non-men in our community, informing future program offerings

  • this virtual session is offered at $25 though no one will be turned away for lack of funds

we are committed to creating a space that is accessible to all who wish to attend, regardless of financial circumstances

please email us at info@susucommunityfarm.org if you need support with costs

  • through the trauma conscious school of liberation we share a variety of offerings that center embodied practice, connecting with elders, and reclaiming the spiritual and cultural traditions of our people

here you will find seasonal yoga classes, sound healing, embodied movement classes, communal rituals and ceremonies led by elders in various spiritual traditions, and a variety of other programming that we offer like seeds of our ancestors, unbodying supremacy, and the commUNITY room
